Getting Out and “Bouts”

Even though I enjoy photographing events of all shapes and sizes, it’s important to me shoot new activities on a regular basis so I can keep my work fresh. I especially like capturing sporting events I’ve never shot before. So last Saturday Lisa and I decided to check out our local roller derby team, the Atlanta Rollergirls. That’s one tough mudder!

Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses that test the strength, stamina and mental grit of its competitors. Evidently only 78 percent of entrants successfully complete each challenge. When I shot this event just outside of Atlanta in January it was something like 12 degrees outside. That didn’t stop people from jumping through water, mud, you name it.
